Over the weekend, take the kids to the many events featured at the new Kidtopia signature event, ‘Stars and Guitars’. Friday afternoon will offer free face painting and ‘craft-er-noon’ from 12:30 – 3 pm at the Kidtopia Headquarters.  Follow up with the Friday Afternoon Club with free gondola rides up to the top of Dercum Mountain anytime from 1 – 7 pm.  Once at the top, enjoy free live music and yard games or a quick hike or slacklining.  Food and drink specials are available at the Summit House.

 

Saturday’s schedule has some more fun for the kids with the ‘Super Snake River Science’ workshop from 9 – 11 am at Kidtopia Headquarters.  At 11 am, head up the gondola with a purchased ride ticket to take part in Stretch, Bend and Wiggle Mountaintop Yoga (free with your gondola ticket).  Kidtopia Kidzfest will be happening in River Run from 11 am – 3 pm, with fun and free stuff like face painting, balloon artists and a bounce house. Afterward, head to ‘Camp Night’ at the Adventure Center from 5 – 7 pm. The ‘Stars and S’mores’ event will be happening from 8:30 – 10 pm at the Keystone Lodge & Spa.

 

Sunday morning, wake up and take the kids to the strider bike racing! They will have a blast competing against other little ones in their age group to win prizes.  Next up is the premiere event, Grammy Award-winning The Okee Dokee Brothers Mountaintop Concert happening in River Run Village from 12 – 4 pm.

 

Tuesday, July 3rd will be the official Independence Day Celebrations at Lakeside Village.  The morning kicks off with the annual free kids fishing derby from 8 -9:30 am.  There will be live music happening all day long, from 11 am – 9 pm.  From 12  – 6 pm, head over to the Decatur field near the lake to play at the family fun zone.  There will be face painters, a balloon artist, bounce houses and kite decorating and flying all afternoon!  After dark at 9:30 pm, enjoy the fireworks display over the lake at Lakeside Village.

 

On the 4th, you’ll want to grab your bike and head over to River Run Village for the annual bike parade, with decorating starting at 10:30 am.  Supplies will be available for bike decorating, so go wild with the stars and stripes and show off your bike and pride in the parade!

4th of July Activities in Keystone and Summit County, Colorado

Keystone Fourth of July Events
Celebrate independance day nestled in the Rocky Mountains, surrounded by fireworks, delicious food and spectacular kid’s entertainment all weekend long in Keystone.  Keystone’s Fourth of July is a children’s 4th of July haven.  Kickoff the weekend at the Friday Afternoon Club, with free gondola rides, yard games, drink specials and live music from JB West Trio from 4 – 7 pm on Keystone’s Dercum Mountain.  On Saturday the kids can participate at Kidtopia Super Snake River Science, a free event put on by the Keystone Science School that allows kids to explore and learn about the Snake River.  Sunday morning, Strider Bike Races start at 10am, for young kids ages 2 – 5.  Then the whole family can get together and enjoy a Mountaintop History Walk, an easy family hike with a guide who will share fun stories about Keystone’s transformation from a mining town into the world class ski resort that we know and love today.

 

On Monday, relax, take in the mountain views and enjoy the day. Over in River Run, the family can enjoy a ton of kid-friendly events at Kidtopia until 3pm. These events include: a petting zoo, train rides, a live kids show, face painting, caricature drawings, a bounce house, and plenty more.  Grab a late lunch at the Lakeside Village BBQ and gear up for the Lakeside Fireworks at 9:30 pm.  Spend the afternoon paddle boarding on the lake or flying kite, where you can build and decorate your own kite and set it sail into the wind.

Breckenridge Fourth of July Events
Breckenridge is known for packing on the Independance Day fun! The day starts off with an Independence Day 10k trail run which starts at 7 am at Carter Park and and ends at  Carter Park.  Promptly After the start of the 10k, will mark the start of the Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race which is also the start of the 4th of July Parade at 9:30am.  The floats and colorguard actually follow the mountain bikers down mainstreet!  Walk around main street after the parade and experience the entertainment.  There are plenty more events and entertainment to see after the parade!  There is a drum circle taking place on main street from 1 pm – 3 pm,  Free pony rides  in the Blue River Plaza from 1 pm – 3 pm, The National Repertory Orchestra is playing at 8:00pm at the Riverwalk Center, Funkiphino is playing a concert from 2 pm – 4 pm at the Riverwalk Center, plus so much more!  Come see why Breckenridge is a go-to destination for Independance day fun!

 

Copper and Frisco Fourth of July Events
Copper and Frisco have one of the most action-packed fourth of July schedules in the entire county! There’s music, fireworks, food and fun.  Kid-friendly events such as the Kids Fishing Derby are bound to get the whole family excited.  All the action starts on July 3rd in Copper!  At 1 pm on the 3rd, Three Dog Night will play a funky free concert at Copper mountain!   On the 4th, you can start your day with the annual Team Summit Pancake Breakfast at the old Community Center between the hours of 7 am – 11 am.  Take a break from your pancakes to watch the Fishing Derby!!  This will take place in Frisco, behind the Walmart in the Meadow Creek Park.  This event is for kids 15 years or younger, supplies not included, so bring your own poles. Watch your kids race to catch the biggest fish! After the Derby, walk over to Frisco Main street and enjoy the parade.  Kids can ride their decorated bikes in the parade!  The little bikers are set to meet at the west side of Town Hall at 11:45 am.  They can show off their bikes and there will even be a contest for the best decorated bike in the parade!  Kids have to be 12 years or younger to participate.  After the parade, you and your family can go to Main street to enjoy free concerts and interactive events that go from 1:30 to 9:15. Finish off your evening right by going to the Marina to watch the fireworks over Lake Dillon!

Enjoy Your July 4th Weekend in Summit County!

There is no shortage of options for your 4th of July weekend in Keystone, Colorado!  There are many nearby activities and festivals throughout Summit County that you may want to take advantage of while you’re in town.  We’ve sorted the activities for you, so all you need to do is get here!  If you are still deciding on where to stay for the holiday weekend, SummitCove is glad to help you out.

Keystone will host River Run Rocks on Saturday at 3:30pm, with a free concert featuring Five 13 and the Six Million Dollar Band.  9pm fireworks will follow the concert.  On Monday the 4th, don’t forget about the KidsFest in River Run along with the Kids Fishing Derby in Lakeside Village.  This event will feature a petting zoo, train rides, caricatures, face paining and much more.  At about 9:30pm, you can catch a fireworks show at Lakeside Village displayed over Keystone Lake.

Frisco hosts the 3rd Annual Downtown Frisco Art Fair from 10am to 5pm on Main Street on Saturday and Sunday.  Founder’s Day also takes lace from 10am to 4 pm at Frisco Historic Park on Saturday.  This fun-filled day will include activities for all ages, including refreshments and ice cream available for sale.  Kids will love the donkey rides, face painting, sidewalk chalk art and gold panning.  Several musical performances will also take place in the park throughout the day.  On Monday the 4th, don’t miss out on the 12:30pm 4th of July Parade on Main Street.  At 7-9 pm performance from Colorado based Opie Gone Bad and 9:30 Fireworks at Frisco Bay Marina will top of the perfect day!

Dillon will host Saturday Morning Adventures; meeting at Marina Park from 10-11:30 am for a historic tour.  In the evening, the amphitheater will play host to “Never Forget Our Soldiers: An Evening of Tribute” featuring the United States Air Force Academy Band and Randall McKinnon.  Monday morning, be sure to catch the National Repertory Orchestra at Dillon Amphitheatre to start of your holiday.  Come early to snag a seat.  At noon, you can catch a children’s bike parade at the town park, and enter or watch the apple pie or watermelon eating contests or work on crafts with your children.  The 3 pm boat parade takes place on Lake Dillon where you can cheer on decorated boats.  Catch a 7 pm USO Show and step back in time to an era of swing music reminiscent of the WWII era.   End your evening by catching the Frisco Bay fireworks display.

Breckenridge is hosting a 10K Trail run on Monday, the 4th at 7am.  This scenic trail running race offers some incredible views and ends in time to catch the many holiday activities in the area.  Click here for registration information.
